PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested Wednesday for allegedly beating another man to death last week in Phoenix, authorities said.

Uriah Mcintosh, 27, is accused of killing a man near Indian School Road and Interstate 17 on July 25, according to court documents.

Officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk on the south side of Indian School Road with facial injuries around 11:40 p.m., court documents said.

The victim had severe head trauma with multiple head fractures, a broken nose and brain hemorrhage with contusions, court documents said.

Mcintosh was arrested on one count of second-degree murder.

How did police find the man accused of beating victim to death in Phoenix?

Witnesses told officers the victim was intoxicated and may have touched two females inappropriately, court documents said. A group of people allegedly told the victim he needed to leave the area. One witness described seeing Mcintosh following the victim after the incident.

Video surveillance from multiple locations near the scene of the assault revealed Mcintosh kicking or stomping the victim’s face or head, court documents said. No people were around during the assault and Mcintosh walked away after the victim fell, court documents said.

Police arrested Mcintosh at his residence on Wednesday. He allegedly admitted to punching the victim after being called a name. He denied kicking the victim and didn’t know he had died, court documents said.

Mcintosh was on probation during the crime, court documents said. His probation officer visited him the day before the alleged assault.
