PHOENIX — A north Phoenix mall is getting an artistic makeover this summer.

Desert Ridge Marketplace is hosting 12 artists who will create new murals each week until Sept. 3 in The District section of the mall.

Rebecca Smith, the mall’s marketing director, told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the art covers all kinds of styles and looks.

“It’ll be anything from more of your scenic art to some of the more … stained-glass look,” she said.

The artists will be creating their works every weekend.

“They’ll be painting live,” Smith said. “People can come out and meet the artists. Some of them will have interactive components, where the community can get involved.”
