Phoenix likely to have warmest weather so far of 2022 this weekend

PHOENIX — The midweek cooldown in Phoenix was fool’s gold. Temperatures are expected to jump to 105 degrees this weekend, bringing the warmest weather the Valley has seen yet this year.

The mercury dipped into the upper 80s midweek, but Friday’s high is forecast to be 98 degrees before really warming up to 103 degrees on Saturday and 105 degrees on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Phoenix has only hit triple digits once in 2022, this past Saturday when the high was 102 degrees.

“Starting Saturday, we’re looking at highs close to 105,” Chris Kuhlman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Wednesday. “Sunday looks to be the warmest day.”

Thankfully, there will be a respite from the hot temperatures.

Lows will remain moderate, with Friday’s at 68 degrees followed by 71 degrees on Saturday and 73 degrees on Sunday.

Those traveling north for the weekend can expect warm — and in some cases hot — weather.

Highs in Flagstaff on Saturday and Sunday will be 82 degrees after 75 degrees on Friday.

Sedona will reach 89 degrees on Friday, 94 degrees on Saturday and 95 degrees on Sunday, NWS says.

The mercury in Prescott will hit 83 degrees on Friday followed by 88 degrees and 89 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
