Phoenix hits 80 degrees for most days in November history

PHOENIX — It’s no triple digits, but a warm November in Phoenix was punctuated with a new heat record set on Tuesday.

Phoenix hit 80 degrees for the 25th day in the month, surpassing the previous November record of 24 days set in 1949.

The city saw 80-plus degree weather for the first 22 days of the month, topping out at 91 degrees on Nov. 5.

The mercury then dipped into the 70s for five consecutive days before jumping to 82 degrees on Sunday.

Monday also saw a high of 82 degrees before the record-setting day on Tuesday.

It was the continuation of a warm fall in Phoenix, which saw a high of 103 degrees on the first day of the season Sept. 22.

Above-normal temperatures are expected to stick around when winter officially starts Dec. 21.

Forecasters have said Phoenix would likely have the unusually balmy winter temperatures, pointing to La Nina bringing drier, warmer conditions.
