Public invited to honor fallen city of Phoenix employees at annual memorial ceremony

PHOENIX – The public is invited to honor fallen city employees during the 31st annual Phoenix Employee Memorial Ceremony on Thursday.

The ceremony starts at 9 a.m. at the Orpheum Theatre on Adams Street at Second Avenue in downtown Phoenix.

Mayor Kate Gallego, City Manager Jeff Barton and other officials will deliver remarks during the event.

Police officer, firefighter honored at Phoenix employee memorial

Guests will then be invited to line up toward the nearby Public Employee Memorial outside the City Hall main entrance on Washington Street.

There, the families of Zane Coolidge and Don Williams will see their late loved ones’ names etched onto glass bricks at the memorial.

Coolidge is a police officer who was killed in the line of duty in September 2024. Williams is a retired deputy fire chief who died the same month.
