PHOENIX — A Phoenix-based drug treatment center is planning on taking its operation national.

Crossroads announced last Thursday it was forming a new franchise called Corlate and would immediately start looking for potential partners outside of Arizona.

Crossroads, founded in 1960, has seven campuses in Maricopa County and serves those with alcohol and drug abuse problems.

“The opioid epidemic is not in one state, it’s in every state. It’s not in one neighborhood, it’s in every neighborhood,” Christopher Riley, a compliance officer for Crossroads, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Tuesday.

“So, as an organization and a leadership team, we sat down and discussed this and asked ourselves ‘what are we doing as an organization to help out not just Arizonans but our country’ and that’s where the idea for Corlate came.”

Riley said the desire for Crossroads to expand outside of Arizona came after officials saw a pressing need to help those throughout the country.

About 42,000 people died from overdose deaths in 2016, according to Riley.

“A big barrier for people seeking help is where to find it,” Riley said. “And finding an affordable price isn’t easy.”

Crossroads is looking for partners in four states — Florida, New Mexico, Massachusetts and Texas — for now.

All franchise locations will mirror the day-to-day operation of the Crossroads locations in Phoenix, according to Riley.

The company is looking for franchisees who can make a difference in their community, Riley said.

“We’re going to take the model used since 1960 and implant it in other states to help more people recover from substance abuse,” Riley said.
