Woman dead, 2 children hospitalized after Phoenix crash

PHOENIX – A woman was killed and two children were seriously injured in a Phoenix crash on Monday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to the two-vehicle collision near 43rd and Purdue avenues, between Dunlap and Peoria avenues, around 11:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The Phoenix Fire Department had to extract two occupants from one of the vehicles.

What have police said about fatal Phoenix crash?

One of the drivers, 32-year old Charlene Quinones, was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, police said.

In addition, two children were hospitalized with injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening.

Two other juveniles involved in the collision didn’t require hospitalization.

The ages of the vehicle occupants were not released.

Authorities said on Tuesday that Quinones was heading southbound on 43rd Avenue when the other vehicle driving northbound struck Quinones head-on.

Police said the other driver, an adult female, showed signs of impairment during the investigation. She was released after being processed, authorities said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
