PHOENIX – A Phoenix company has one year to provide wedding videos for more than 400 customers or be required to issue thousands of dollars in refunds, authorities said.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced Monday it had obtained a $190,000 consent judgement against WedReel for unfulfilled orders.

The company operated from November 2016 to around October 2017, advertising video collage packages ranging from $390 to $590 on Facebook and The Knot, the AG’s office said in a press release.

The release said WedReel fulfilled orders for a time but ceased operating and took down its website before completing services for at least 427 paying customers. The unfulfilled orders totaled almost $170,000.

The state’s settlement with the company and its owners, Brandon M. Garland and husband and wife Michael D. and Elizabeth A. Daniels, also included $20,000 in legal fees.

“Businesses cannot be allowed to mislead consumers and disappear without keeping their promises,” Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in the release.

If the outstanding orders aren’t completed to satisfaction by June 2020, the defendants will be responsible for making the refunds.

The settlement, which was filed last week, gives the Attorney General’s Office sole discretion in determining customer satisfaction.

The defendants will have to provide progress reports every 30 days or be considered in default, which would trigger the repayments.
