Phoenix Children’s Hospital gets $50K donation in honor of airline executive

PHOENIX – American Airlines donated $50,000 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in honor of a longtime executive who recently retired.

Michael Carreon called it a career earlier this year after 24 years with the carrier, where he was vice president and controller.

American makes donations in the names of its executives when they retire, and Carreon selected Phoenix Children’s as the beneficiary.

“Michael could have chosen to donate his retirement endowment anywhere, but the fact that he chose Phoenix Children’s shows that he is committed to the long-term health and care of the most vulnerable population – children,” Steve Schnall, senior vice president and chief development officer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation, said in a press release.

“He can rest assured that his donation will benefit the life-saving care for our patients and their families.”

The donation will go to The Hope Fund, which supports the hospital in a variety of ways, including launching new programs, purchasing equipment and conducting research.
