Phoenix-area hot air balloon show to light up park Saturday

PHOENIX – A week after the threat of bad weather canceled its scheduled date, a Phoenix suburb will host its annual hot air balloon show Saturday.

The free, family-friendly Fountain Hills Balloon Glow will start at 5:30 p.m., at the town park.

Between 12,000 and 15,000 attended last year’s event, organizers said in an online post.

Balloons will be set up starting after 4:30 p.m.

A few vendors will be on hand to sell hot dogs, tacos and beverages.

The National Weather Service bureau in Phoenix anticipated cool temperatures in the evening, after a daytime high in the mid-to-upper 60s. The skies were expected to be mostly clear at nightfall, with an overnight low of 43 degrees.

A forecast of rain, which had fallen all week, put a damper on the original date of Dec. 28.
