Peoria police searching for man after suspicious incident with minor

PHOENIX — The Peoria Police Department is searching for a man following a suspicious incident involving a young girl that took place in an area neighborhood.

Police are looking for a man driving a white van who made contact with the juvenile in the 30000 block of N. Sunrise Point on July 9.

According to authorities, the individual, described as a young Black man, approached the girl and reportedly told her, “hey, I’ve been looking for you.” She did not know the man, police said.

The girl walked away but was approached again by the man who again said he had been looking for her.

The girl left the area and contacted her parents.

Talking with neighbors, it was learned two other girls saw the van slowing down and “acting suspicious” as it passed by them in the neighborhood.

The vehicle was identified by a neighbor’s security camera as a 2009-13 Ford Transit Connect Van. The plates are unknown and there were no markings on the vehicle.
