Peoria Police Department launches Axon community engagement tool

PHOENIX — The Peoria Police Department announced Thursday it is taking a step to better connect with its community by launching Axon’s My90, an anonymous engagement tool.

The tool, which went live Tuesday, will allow city residents to submit feedback to Peoria police in a confidential manner. It will aid the department “better understand community experiences, identify areas of improvement and recognize outstanding service” of individual officers, according to a press release.

Whenever a resident contacts the department by phone, they will receive a text message with a link that takes them to an anonymous survey.

Community members will see the following text before the link: “Thank you for calling the Peoria Police Department. Please share your confidential feedback.”

Once the link is clicked, a resident will be asked to answer seven questions, beginning with who they interacted with in the department.

The questions that follow include whether the caller got the help they were seeking, how they view the agency based on the service and how the agency can best serve their community.

“My90 enables us to connect and engage in a meaningful way with our community,” Peoria Police Chief Thomas Intrieri said. “By listening to and utilizing feedback, we’re working to enhance our transparency, improve outcomes for calls for service and continue to drive positive change in how we serve the public.”

Surveys will be periodically viewed in an aggregate form so that Peoria police can be as transparent as possible.

The police department opened its first real-time crime center last March.
