West Valley mobile home fire critically injures woman, kills dog

PHOENIX — A fire on Wednesday at a mobile home in Peoria critically injured a woman and killed one of her dogs, authorities announced.

Crews from the Peoria Fire-Medical Department (PFMD) and the Glendale Fire Department responded to the fire at a mobile home park near 79th and Peoria avenues and were alerted that someone was trapped inside, according to PFMD.

Once on scene, crews were able to rescue a woman from the home. She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Crews also found two dogs inside the home. One of the dogs was found dead, while the other was taken for additional care by animal control.

One Peoria firefighter received a minor injury while fighting the fire. That firefighter was treated at the scene and was not hospitalized, PFMD said.

Additionally, another Peoria firefighter and two Peoria police officers were treated at the scene after being exposed to smoke.

No other details were released.
