Pedestrian killed in late-night Phoenix collision, driver processed for DUI
The driver in a late-night Phoenix collision that killed a pedestrian on Friday was processed for DUI, authorities said.

PHOENIX — The driver in a late-night Phoenix collision that killed a pedestrian on Friday was processed for DUI, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to 36th and Northern avenues around 11 p.m. to find an adult male in critical condition following a collision.
He was pronounced dead upon the Phoenix Fire Department’s arrival.
The driver involved, also an adult male, was identified at the scene and taken to a precinct where he was processed for DUI.
Detectives determined the pedestrian was trying to cross Northern Avenue without utilizing a crosswalk when he was struck.
The investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.

Many of them occur in crosswalks. They are reported here weekly. And, to add insult to injury, if the driver stops and doesn't run away, they don't even charge them for running over someone in this magic crosswalk that is used as an excuse for poor driving.
Two wrongs clearly do not make a right.
Once again the Valley is seeing another horrible pedestrian fatality and will claim we need to improve crosswalks. Yet again this happened outside a crosswalk so why are we throwing money at a problem that will not address the problem of people crossing wherever they want? How many of these tragic accidents have happened IN CROSSWALKS?
