Phoenix street closed after pedestrian struck by vehicle dies

PHOENIX — A male pedestrian was killed near 7th Street and Jones Avenue in Phoenix after a vehicle struck him on Wednesday night.

At about 6:45 p.m., a northbound motorist hit the man while he was trying to cross the intersection, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Jonathan Howard.

Howard said 7th Street was closed in both directions between Broadway Road and Elwood Street as of 8 p.m.

The man’s name and age were not released at the time.
