Pedestrian dies after vehicle hits him on West Valley street

PHOENIX – A pedestrian died after a vehicle hit him on a West Valley street Wednesday night, authorities said.
Michael Ferrell, 43, was struck near the intersection of Rainbow and Roeser roads around 7:30 p.m., according to the Buckeye Police Department.
Ferrell died of his injuries Wednesday night after being taken to a hospital, police announced Thursday morning.
The driver of the vehicle is not suspected of being impaired, police said.
There is no crosswalk at the intersection, which is mostly surrounded by farmland.
Road closed for hours after deadly vehicle-pedestrian collision
Rainbow Road, which runs north and south, was closed between Broadway Road and Southern Avenue for several hours after the fatal collision.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
