Pedestrian dead after getting hit by semi-truck on Phoenix freeway

A pedestrian who was struck by a semi-truck overnight died, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said Saturday morning.

The collision happened on Interstate 17 near Thomas Road.

“Preliminary information indicates the pedestrian may have run out into the roadway (before being) struck by the semi,” according to DPS.

No other details were immediately available.
