Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle while crossing street in north Phoenix
A man was hit and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street in north Phoenix early Sunday. Impairment and speed were not factors in the collision.

PHOENIX — A man was hit and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street in north Phoenix early Sunday, authorities said.
Phoenix police responded around 3:30 a.m. to the area of 23rd Avenue and Cactus Road for reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a car.
The Phoenix Fire Department then arrived at the scene to treat the unidentified man for his injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital and died there.
Detectives took over the investigation of the incident, and the driver remained in the area.
Initial findings suggested that the man did not use a crosswalk and was halfway across the street when hit by a truck.
The driver did not show any signs of impairment when assessed and speed was also ruled out as a factor in the incident.
No other information was provided about the ongoing investigation.

Lots of homeless encampments around there, and those crosswalks are just too far away, apparently ..
Another tragedy that local government will throw tons of taxpayer dollars at to address crosswalks due to another pedestrian death.
Typical of these horrible incidents, a crosswalk was not the issue as it was NOT used.
Another failure to address the issue.
