Paraglider found dead at scene of wildland fire in northern Arizona

PHOENIX – Authorities opened an investigation after a paraglider was found dead Friday morning at the scene of a wildland fire in northern Arizona.

Crews were responding to reports of a fire in Prescott Valley around 7:45 a.m. when they received information that a person who was paragliding was involved, according to the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, which were contained to a small area near Lakeshore Drive and Fain Road.

The paraglider, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
