Original Phoenix Greek Festival back this weekend for 61st edition

PHOENIX – A beloved tradition since before most Valley residents were born, the Original Phoenix Greek Festival is back this weekend with its 61st edition.

The family-friendly event runs Friday-Sunday at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1973 E. Maryland Ave.

The festivities run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $5 per day, with no charge for kids under 12 throughout the weekend. Seniors over 60 can get in free on Saturday from opening until 3 p.m.

Festival attendees can partake in a wide variety of Greek food and beverages — including lamb shank, moussaka, spanakopita and bakery treats – and enjoy live music, dance performances and lessons, and shopping.

The church’s cathedral will also be open for self-guided tours.

Parking on the church lot costs $10, but there’s a free shuttle service available all weekend at the southwest corner of 24th Street and Lincoln Drive.
