A record number of Phoenix adults don’t live on their own.

In fact, one out of three working-aged adults live with roommates or family, the Phoenix Business Journal reports.

That is the highest doubling-up rate on record in Phoenix, and just above the 32 percent national rate for adults living in with roommates or family

These numbers are based on data collected by real estate firm Zillow . Reasons for the higher roommate rate include stagnant incomes, higher rents, fewer adults looking to buy a home and a tighter employment market, Phoenix Business Journal says.

The rate is only higher in New York and in Riverside and Los Angeles cities in California.
