PHOENIX — Authorities on Tuesday identified the armed man shot dead by Phoenix police officers on March 13.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a domestic violence call near 35th Avenue and Osborn Road around 6:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, an officer saw 40-year-old Jason Anthony Arrieta., who began running through the complex, and the officer followed.
“As an additional officer arrived, (Arrieta) was seen carrying a rifle and refused repeated commands to stop and to drop the weapon,” Sgt. Jen Zak said in a media advisory. “That is when the officer-involved shooting occurred.”
Police provided first aid to Arrieta, who was injured by the gunfire, before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division is investigating the fatal incident, according to police.

Long time Phoenix resident here - I've had a few occasions to deal with the local "Po-Leece" in my younger years. Never even ONCE did I provoke them or disobey one of their DIRECT orders.
And as a result - they've never had a reason to discharge one of their "Duty Weapons" in my direction ..
What I'm implying here is that it's really, REALLY easy to NOT get shot by the local police !
Let’s see, if law enforcement tells me to lay down my weapon and I ignore that command, guess what happens next and I start pointing the weapon at them? I would be a Darwin candidate as well.
