More than 70 No Kings protests planned across Arizona on Saturday

PHOENIX — Protesters opposed to the Trump administration are planning demonstrations across Arizona on Saturday as part of a nationwide movement called “No Kings.”

Organizers with Indivisible, a progressive advocacy group, list more than 70 protests scheduled around Arizona and boast a higher number of protests than the last two ‘No Kings’ protests.

“It’s official: There are now 3,000 protests planned for No Kings Day. That means there will be more protests on March 28 than any previous day in American history,” wrote organizers on Instagram.

What ‘No Kings’ protesters want

The demonstrations are part of a national day of action organized around opposition to what participants call authoritarian policies. Organizers said similar events are planned in all 50 states.

“When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option,” organizers said in a statement.

The No Kings movement began in June 2025 and returned in October with what organizers claimed were more than 7 million participants at 2,700 events nationwide. Those figures could not be independently verified.

Democrats rally around ‘No Kings’ ahead of midterms

Local Democratic groups are using the rally as an organizing opportunity.

LD 11 South Mountain Democrats will set up at the Financial Theater at Arizona Financial Theater at 400 W. Washington St. to register voters ahead of the main event. The Central Phoenix “No Kings” rally opens at 1 p.m. with a DJ and community organizations tabling before a march to the state Capitol.

Organizers say they’re building on momentum from earlier mobilizations.

Northwest Valley Indivisible reported that more than 8,400 people turned out across 10 sites in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District during the last No Kings day.

“Nothing like this has ever happened in Arizona’s 8th District — not in size, not in coordination and not in the number of communities involved,” co-chair Brent Peak said in a news release. “These were everyday residents—parents, retirees, students, veterans and working families — showing up peacefully to defend democratic values and constitutional rights.”

Protests planned in Trump strongholds across Arizona

Saturday’s lineup again reaches deep into Trump country.

Protests are planned in Lake Havasu City, where Trump won by more than 60 percentage points, Kingman, where he won by as much as 57 points in some precincts, Bullhead City, where he won by 47 points, and Payson, where he won by more than 40 points, according to precinct data curated by the New York Times.

Other protests are planned in politically competitive suburbs like Gilbert and Chandler.

Organizers said they are committed to nonviolent action and are asking participants not to bring weapons, including those legally permitted.

The protests come amid ongoing debate over the administration’s immigration enforcement, federal spending priorities and executive authority.
