Ninjas holding Scottsdale show after ‘American Ninja Warrior’ date canceled

PHOENIX — Disappointed fans of American Ninja Warrior shouldn’t be too sad about a Glendale show being canceled: The ninjas are still coming.

At least 12 competitors on the show will instead host a special event in Scottsdale this weekend to replace the canceled show at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The free event will be held at AZ on the Rocks, a gym located near Bell Road and the Loop 101. It will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. and go until 6 p.m.

Attendees will be able to see some of their favorite competitors and can sign up to run a speed course.

The event was planned by Adam Rayl, a Scottsdale resident, after the Glendale date was called off.

“Having worked with kids alongside other Ninjas at both Wolfpack Ninja Tours and other events around the country, I figured the ninjas may want to rally for the fans,” he told fan site American Ninja Warrior Nation.

“Plus, this is my home town and it felt more personal. Like I ought to try if I thought there was any chance of gathering the ninjas for some kind of event.”

In a post, the gym asked attendees to be patient as it was unsure how many people to expect.

“Space will be limited and we ask that you be sensitive to spending the entire time at the gym,” the post read. “Please give others a chance to meet their favorite ninjas. You may have to spend some time outdoors where you will still be able to mingle with the ninjas.”

The Glendale event, which has been scheduled for this weekend, was called off due to “unforeseen circumstances surrounding [the] production,” organizers said.

An event in San Diego that was scheduled for next month was also canceled. There were no plans to reschedule.
