Surprise celebrates completion of new recreation complex

PHOENIX — The city of Surprise this week celebrated the completion of a new recreation complex, according to a Thursday news release.

Rescue Oasis, located near Cactus and Perryville roads, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, according to the release.

The complex features four new facilities, including the Soak Station 309 Splash Pad. Other facilities include:

• Oasis Swim Center — a recreational pool with six water slides, an Olympic-sized pool and a warm-up/dive pool with three rock walls and a rope swing.
• Rescue Oasis Park — a playground, slides, a basketball court, a sand volleyball court and a splash pad.
• Fire Station 309 — four apparatus bays, EMS and decontamination rooms, equipment storage and 10 firefighter dorms.

The Rescue Oasis Park and Soak Station 309 Splash Pad opened to the public on Saturday, while the Oasis Swim Center opens on May 24. 

“The Rescue Oasis complex demonstrates Surprise’s commitment to enhancing the community experience for our growing community with investments in both public safety and quality of life projects,” Mayor Kevin Sartor said in the release.

“This complex allows the city to not only provide responsive emergency services but also offers the community a safe place to play and connect.”
