PHOENIX — A semiconductor materials company has opened a new manufacturing facility in east Mesa, according to a release.

JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. (JX USA), formerly known as JX Nippon Mining & Metals USA, Inc., celebrated the grand opening of its manufacturing plant located on Germann and Crismon Roads southeast of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

With this new facility, JX USA will serve the expanding customer base in North America and Europe, producing sputtering targets for the semiconductor industry. The facility is currently engaged in test production, with full-scale production scheduled to begin in early 2025.

“Today’s opening marks an exciting milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. as we extend our commitment to Mesa and the advanced materials industry,” said Takeshi Suwabe, executive officer and general manager of the Thin Film Materials Division of JX Advanced Metals Corporation. “Our new Mesa facility will not only drive growth in semiconductor materials production, but also serve as the center of JX USA’s business in the advanced materials field in the U.S.”

The grand opening ceremony featured speeches from Mesa Mayor John Giles, Mesa Councilmember Scott Somers and others.

“JX USA’s choice to make Mesa their manufacturing base reaffirms our city’s appeal as a hub for innovation and advanced technology,” Giles said during the ceremony on Wednesday. “We are honored to support this remarkable company as it grows and contributes to the industry and local economy.”

The 273,000 square-foot facility offers a large production area, office spaces, welfare facilities and a garden.

JX USA has expanded to over 125 employees over the course of its 30 years in the East Valley. To learn more, visit here.
