PHOENIX — A north Phoenix construction site was evacuated for a natural gas leak on Saturday morning, authorities said.

The leak occurred at an Omni construction site, where all workers evacuated safely as hazmat crews worked through the situation.

Nearby traffic on Mayo Boulevard was shut down at 73rd Street, and businesses in the area were told to shelter in place.

Southwest Gas is working to assess the situation with hazmat crews from Phoenix and Scottsdale on site.
