PHOENIX – Authorities on Monday released the names of the two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide in northwest Phoenix over the weekend.
James Main, 63, is suspected of fatally shooting 66-year-old Jane Main on Saturday night before turning the gun on himself, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Officers responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood near 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road around 8:30 p.m. and found two adults with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that the man likely shot and killed the woman before turning the gun on himself,” Sgt. Robert Scherer said in a media advisory.
An official determination won’t be made until the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office completes autopsies, police said.
