Multiple victims treated after swarm of bees attacks at Mesa senior home

PHOENIX – Three people were hospitalized and a police officer was treated after a large swarm of bees attacked at a Mesa senior living facility Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred at the Fellowship Square home near the Brown Road and Center Street, according to a Mesa Fire and Medical Department spokesman.

Pest control crews were working to remove the bees, and residents of the facility were asked to shelter in place, Capt. Mike Castillo said in an email.

The public was asked to avoid the area until the situation is under control.

@MesaFireDept crews are currently treating multiple patients affected by a large bee swarm in the area of Center & Brown Rds. The public is asked to please avoid the area while crews mitigate the situation.
