Multiple closures, restrictions planned on Valley freeways over weekend

PHOENIX — Multiple closures and restrictions are planned for Valley freeways over the weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Eastbound Loop 101 between Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, as well as the eastbound on-ramps at 19th and Seventh avenues.

Drivers can exit at Seventh Street and detour along the Beardsley frontage road but should expect heavy delays, according to ADOT.

To avoid the slowdown, drivers can take alternate routes like Union Hills Drive or Deer Valley Road.

The closure is part of the Loop 101 improvement project, which will add a fourth lane in each direction along a 13-mile stretch by 2021, among other additions.

The northbound Loop 202 off-ramp and southbound on-ramp at Broadway Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday for pavement repairs.

During that time, the eastbound U.S. 60 ramp to northbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to one lane.

ADOT encouraged drivers to use the Loop 202 ramps at University Drive instead.

The Interstate 10 restrictions include:

• Eastbound I-10 narrowed to three lanes between Litchfield Road and Avondale Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday
• Westbound I-10 narrowed to three lanes between 51st and 55th avenues from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
• Westbound I-10 narrowed to three lanes between 99th Avenue and Dysart Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday
• Eastbound I-10 narrowed to one lane near 59th Avenue from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily Sunday through Thursday nights.
