Motorcyclist dies after collision involving car near overpass in Phoenix

A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a car near an overpass in Phoenix on Sunday morning, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the man who died as 55-year-old Andre Grant.

Police and fire crews responded to the collision at the Cactus Road overpass for State Route 51 around 5:30 a.m.

Grant was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary information indicated that Grant went through a red light while headed eastbound through the intersection. An SUV had a green arrow and was driving southbound through the intersection and collided with Grant.

The SUV driver remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

The investigation into the Phoenix crash is ongoing.
