Motorcyclist dead, driver hospitalized after crash in West Valley

A motorcyclist is dead and another driver is in the hospital after a crash in the West Valley on Saturday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A motorcyclist is dead and another driver is in the hospital after a crash in the West Valley on Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to the Surprise Police Department, the collision was between a motorcycle and SUV and occurred before 11:28 a.m.

It closed westbound Bell Road at Reems Road, causing westbound traffic to be diverted and eastbound Bell Road to be restricted to one lane at Sunrise Boulevard.

Police said that the motorcyclist involved in the crash died and the driver of the SUV was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were considered to be not life-threatening. The motorcyclist’s identity was not released.

Westbound Bell Road will be closed for several hours as officers investigate the fatal West Valley collision, according to Surprise police.
