Motorcyclist dead in north Phoenix crash involving Valley Metro bus

A male motorcyclist died after colliding with a Valley Metro Paratransit bus in north Phoenix on Friday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A male motorcyclist died after colliding with a Valley Metro Paratransit bus in north Phoenix on Friday morning, authorities said.

Phoenix police responded to the area of Peoria Avenue and 28th Drive at about 11:40 a.m. and found Michael Do, 20, with severe injuries. First responders with Phoenix fire took Do to a nearby hospital for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

How did the north Phoenix crash happen?

Detectives assigned to the crash learned that Do — who was wearing a helmet — was heading west on Peoria Avenue before the Valley Metro bus “pulled in front of him” while making a left turn onto 28th Drive from Peoria.

The driver of the Valley Metro bus remained at the crash site to answer the detectives’ questions. They displayed no signs of impairment from intoxication, authorities said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
