Juvenile motorcycle rider dies after collision with car in north Phoenix

PHOENIX – A juvenile motorcycle rider was killed in a collision in north Phoenix on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers responded to a crash between a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Cave Creek Road and Grovers Avenue, between Bell Road and Union Hills Drive, around 3:30 p.m. according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The motorcycle rider, a boy under 18 whose name and exact age were not released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but he didn’t survive his injuries.

The driver of the car, an elderly woman, was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

Police said the collision occurred when the motorcyclist was heading south on Cave Creek Road and the car turned left in front of him onto Grovers Avenue.

No other details were immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
