Motorcycle rider dies after collision on Phoenix street

A young motorcycle rider died after colliding with a car on a Phoenix street Wednesday night, police said.

PHOENIX – A young motorcycle rider died after colliding with a car on a Phoenix street Wednesday night, police said.

Randal Lichlyter, 19, was driving northbound on 35th Avenue near Grovers Avenue, between Bell Road and Union Hills Drive, shortly before 10 p.m., police said in an email Thursday.

Investigators said a vehicle was turning left onto Grovers from 35th Avenue at the same time the motorcycle approached and the two smashed together.

Lichlyter was taken to a hospital; the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Police said impairment did not appear to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
