More than 3,600 lose power in Phoenix after hit-and-run accident

PHOENIX — More than 3,600 customers of an Arizona utility were temporarily without power Friday after a hit-and-ran crash in Phoenix.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said in an email that a vehicle collided with a parked car in the area of 36th Street and McDowell road around 11 a.m.

Shortly after, the vehicle crashed into a power pole in the area of 38th Street and McDowell Road.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and was taken into custody at his residence nearby. He was not identified.

An outage map from Salt River Project showed 3,665 customers without power in the area of 40th Street and McDowell Road.

The power was restored by Friday afternoon, according to the outage map.

There were no injuries from either accident.
