More rain expected for the Valley, snow for the high country

PHOENIX – Forecasters anticipated a rainy Wednesday in metro Phoenix, with higher elevations outside of the city possibly getting as much an inch.

“It should be pretty widespread,” Bianca Feldkircher with the National Service in Phoenix told KTAR News 92.3 FM, “but it won’t last as long as this (past) system.”

The latest system comes after the Valley had four consecutive days of more than a quarter inch of rain.

The round of showers were expected to hit after 7 a.m. and keep coming down before letting up in the evening.

Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory is in effect for the high country from 6 p.m. Wednesday night to 6 a.m. Thursday.

The snow was already coming down early Wednesday morning in the northern part of the state.

Despite the colder weather, the Valley is expected to heat up his weekend, with temperatures rising into the 70’s.
