More credit-card skimmers found on Arizona gas pumps
Officials in Arizona said more credit-card skimmers have been discovered on gas pumps in metro Phoenix.
PHOENIX — Officials in Arizona said more credit-card skimmers have been discovered on gas pumps in metro Phoenix.
Two skimmers were found at two gas stations Monday and Wednesday in Glendale, pushing the year’s total to 40.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said another skimming device was discovered at a gas station in Picacho, which is about 90 minutes south of downtown Phoenix.
Authorities said suspects pose as gas station employees or gas pump repairmen while they place the skimmers into the pumps.
The weights and measures division of the Arizona Department of Agriculture said drivers in the state pump over 2.5 million gallons of gas daily at nearly 2,100 gas stations.
The device allowed suspects to collect customers’ credit card information.
Gas pumps should have security stickers near the credit-card slot. If the sticker has been visibly tampered with, customers should report their suspicions to a station attendant.
Before the end of last year, at least 75 skimmers had been discovered on Arizona gas pumps.
“We are out checking as much as we can, but a criminal could put in a skimmer the day after an inspection,” Mark Killian, director of the agriculture department said last year after a handful of skimmers were found on Valley pumps in December.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Have to walk inside and wait in a long line behind all the illegals buying cigarettes, Big Gulps, and lottery tickets.
Yeah, check those stickers because criminals aren't allowed to order their own stickers. LOL
As if by some act of God, "known stations" have been "known" to scare skimmers straight. LOL
"Sainthood!!!"
