Monti’s to auction off memorabilia to public
Landmark restaurant Monti's Steakhouse in Tempe will auction off memorabilia.
PHOENIX — If Monti’s Steakhouse has a piece of ardent patrons’ hearts, those same people and more can have a piece of the recently closed Tempe restaurant.
The iconic restaurant in the historic Hayden House will be auctioning off memorabilia Dec. 4 and fixtures and equipment will go on the block Dec. 8.
Monti’s closed Nov. 17 after almost 60 years at the corner of Mill Avenue and First Street.
In a post on Facebook, owner Michael Monti, who took over the business his father, Leonard, started, wrote:
“We never imagined we would have so many people reaching out and wanting the same special keepsake from the restaurant. So we decided it is only fitting we open this up to a community auction and allow all of our friends and customers, who have supported us over the years to take part in the auction and take a piece of Monti’s home with them.”
The auction will include online bidding to registered participants. Among the items available will be framed artwork, photos and vintage menus.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to an unspecified charity or charities.
The bidding will open at 7 p.m. A preview will kick off the evening at 5 p.m.
