Monsoon storm brings rain, power outages to metro Phoenix

PHOENIX — More storms passed through the Valley Tuesday evening, producing heavy rain in some parts and light drizzle in others.

Rain gauges in Apache Junction recorded over a quarter of an inch of rain, while some in east Mesa saw nearly two tenths of an inch, according to the Flood Control District of Maricopa County.

About 4,000 people in Apache Junction were without power at 5 p.m., according to SRP’s outage map.

North Scottsdale was hit with .20 inches of rain, while parts of Phoenix saw half an inch.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms increased to 50% by Wednesday evening, with wind gusts as high as 20 mph expected.

Rainfall amounts were predicted to range between a tenth to a quarter of an inch.
