Tempe murder suspect who fled to Texas brought back to Arizona for prosecution

A man who was arrested in Texas in April in connection with a Tempe murder case was booked into a Phoenix jail on Tuesday.

Michael Bloodworth was charged with one count each of second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, prohibited weapons possession, discharging a firearm within city limits and disorderly conduct, according to Maricopa County jail records.

His bond was set at $1 million.

The Tempe Police Department said Bloodworth is one of two suspects believed to be connected with a fatal shooting in downtown Tempe on March 28.

The other suspect, 23-year-old Aidan Zepeda, was arrested March 29 and charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and other counts.

Jacob Jaime Jr., 22, was killed in the March shooting at 401 S. Mill Ave.

Officers responded to the scene after 2 a.m. and found Jaime Jr. with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. A second man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
