Phoenix woman booked for murder in intentional hit-and-run, caught in Flagstaff

A 30-year-old woman was booked on murder charges after police say she intentionally struck and killed a pedestrian in a hit-and-run.

Officers responded just after 4 p.m. on May 3 to the area of 16th Street and Maryland Avenue regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. They found Norris Taft, 52, in critical condition, according to the Phoenix Police Department. He later died at a nearby hospital.

The early investigation determined an SUV driver intentionally hit Taft and then left the scene, police said.

Homicide detectives developed probable cause identifying 30-year-old Mikela Bahe as the suspect. Bahe was arrested in Flagstaff on Wednesday and brought back to Phoenix.

She is charged with 2nd degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident and theft. Bahe is being held on $1 million bond.

Detectives are asking the community for help locating the vehicle involved in the incident and encourage anyone with information to contact police.

A motive is unknown.
