PHOENIX — A missing Tempe man was found dead Friday, according to authorities.

The Tempe Police Department found the body of Michal Bayne in Mesa after an intense police search and investigation.

Mesa police responded to the scene and the investigation into Bayne’s death had been turned over to them, police said.

“Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” police said in a press release Friday. “We understand how deeply this ongoing search has affected the community, and we ask for continued patience and compassion as the investigation moves forward.”

12News reported Bayne was last seen on the night of Feb. 15, going out with friends. He called out of work sick at 7 a.m. the next morning and Ring camera footage showed him leaving his apartment two hours later. But it did not show him returning.

Bayne did not show up for work on Feb. 17 and his boss called his sister, Brittany Bayne. She called Michael and got no answer, so she went to his apartment, where his car was gone and no one answered the door. So, the landlord let her in and she found his wallet and medication, but his ID and debit card were taken.

That’s when Brittany filed a missing persons report and detectives tracked his phone and car to a location. Upon arrival, neither his car or phone was there.

The investigation into Michael Bayne’s death is ongoing.
