Extensive renovations begin on Mesa Police headquarters

PHOENIX — Extensive renovations to the Mesa Police headquarters began on Monday and will continue for the next 20 months, according to a news release.

The renovations will involve removing and replacing electrical, plumbing and other systems. Additionally, the headquarters will undergo improvements to enhance public access to the building.

“This project will give our police department the necessary tools, space and support to serve Mesa for future generations,” Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman said in the release.

“These voter-approved investments allow us to modernize critical infrastructure and meet the changing needs of our rapidly growing city.”

About 250 employees work at the headquarters and staff will be temporarily relocated across Mesa as part of the project.

The headquarters, located on 130 N. Robson, was built in 1974, with additions made in 1988 and 1997.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
