PHOENIX — A 45-year-old Mesa man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly hid a camera in the bathroom of a home, recording eight victims, including four minors, over about four years, authorities said.

The Mesa Police Department identified the man taken into custody as Andreas Lorenz. He was booked into jail on 12 counts of voyeurism and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor under 14.

On Feb. 9, police were called to a home near Ellsworth and Elliott roads after a resident discovered a camera disguised as a Wi-Fi extender plug inside a bathroom.

Lorenz admitted to detectives that he put the camera in the bathroom in 2021, claiming that he only intended to record his wife and did not think about who else would be captured.

A forensic review of the device confirmed that multiple people were recorded without their knowledge or consent.

“This case represents a profound violation of trust and personal privacy that has deeply impacted multiple victims and their families,” Mesa Police Detective Jose Aguirre wrote in a news release.

You cannot molest children in the privacy of your home. You cannot cook meth in the privacy of your home. You cannot shoot someone in the face in the privacy of your home.

Why tf do you think your home is some magic shield from law enforcement? 🤡
