PHOENIX – The city of Mesa is looking for U.S. service members and veterans to honor through its Hometown Heroes banner program.
The program, which is open to Mesa residents and their families, pays tribute to men and women on active duty, honorably discharged veterans and those who died while serving.
Each banner will feature an honoree’s name, branch of military and photo.
The banners will be installed on downtown-area light poles to coincide with Veterans Day and/or Memorial Day events and be on display for one year.
Afterward, the banner will be given to the person honored or family member.
The program, which is funded through donations of $150 per banner, is accepting nominations through April 15.
Details on eligibility and how to apply are available on the city’s website.
