Scottsdale gas station sells Mega Millions ticket worth $20,000

PHOENIX – A Scottsdale gas station sold a lottery ticket that hit for $20,000 in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.

The five-figure ticket was purchased at the QuikTrip on the northwest corner of Pima and McDowell roads.

It matched four of the five white numbers – 7, 16, 32, 35 and 40 – plus the gold Mega Ball of 12. The ticket had a multiplier of two, doubling the $10,000 base prize.

The odds of matching that combination are one in over 893,000.

What is the jackpot for the next Mega Millions drawing?

Mega Millions is a multistate lottery with drawings every Tuesday and Friday night. Tickets cost $5, and each entry comes with a randomly chosen multiplier that boosts non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five or 10 times.

The jackpot went unclaimed Friday and will be an estimated $163 million for Tuesday’s drawing.

Arizona Lottery winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
