Tucson man sentenced to 16 years in prison for child sexual abuse

PHOENIX — A 25-year-old Tucson man was sentenced to 16 years of prison time after he pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona announced.

The man, Cylus Miller Alvarado, also received a lifetime of supervised release on Jan. 15 for the abusive contact of a minor under the age of 12 between April 1, 2022, and June 12, 2023, a statement said.

Alvarado committed the abusive acts while living in Parker, Arizona, which is located about 155 miles northwest of Phoenix in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation.

Both Alvarado and the victim are members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes.

“We thank the brave victim and witness who came forward in this case to help us put Cylus Alvarado behind bars for more than a decade,” FBI Phoenix acting special agent in charge Joe Hooper said. “The FBI hopes this sentence shows our unwavering commitment to pursuing justice for all victims of similar abuse and sends the message to all offenders—you will be pursued, prosecuted and punished.”

The Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department helped FBI Phoenix with this sexual abuse investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina J. Reid-Moore handled the case’s prosecution.
