Man rescued from 18-inch storm drain in West Phoenix

PHOENIX — Phoenix fire crews rescued a man from an 18-inch storm drain in West Phoenix on Tuesday.

The man was pulled from the drain at Westland School near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road around 11 a.m., Captain Danny Gile said in an email.

It was not immediately known how he got into the drain or how long he had been there. Gile said he was trapped in the storm drainage system.

The man did not appear to be injured, but was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
