Man dead after high-speed collision in west Phoenix

A man is dead after a high-speed collision involving multiple vehicles in west Phoenix on Monday night, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a high-speed collision involving multiple vehicles in west Phoenix on Monday night, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the deceased man as 35-year-old Orlando Cadena.

Police responded to the area of 67th Avenue and McDowell Road around 9:40 p.m. and found occupants of multiple vehicles suffering from serious injuries.

Cadena was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The occupants of the second vehicle involved in the crash, two women, were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Meanwhile, the male driver of the third car was treated on scene for minor injuries, police said.

Preliminary information indicated that Cadena was driving eastbound on McDowell Road at a high rate of speed when he collided with the second car, which was turning left onto 67th Avenue from McDowell Road.

The second vehicle proceeded to strike the third car in the intersection after the initial collision.

The investigation into the fatal Phoenix incident is ongoing.
